Organisers look to recruit army
The organisers of Scarborough’s popular Coastival arts festival are looking for a small army of volunteers to help run this year’s event.
On Friday 13th and Saturday 14th, Scarborough will burst into life with a festival of music, theatre, comedy and visual arts for Coastival 2015.
But in order to stage the weekend, organisers Create need a team of volunteers to make sure all goes smoothly.
Their duties will include acting as stewards, manning the Coastival information desk, welcoming visitors, checking and selling tickets and generally ensuring everyone enjoys the festival.
Volunteer Co-ordinator Helen Berry said the volunteers were the welcoming face of the festival and played a vital role in ensuring that the event goes off safely and smoothly.
“We really value the contribution that volunteers make to Coastival and every year we are fortunate to recruit a team of committed, enthusiastic, hard-working and fun loving volunteers.
“If you are polite, courteous, calm and helpful, and would like to be part of the team delivering this major festival we would love to hear from you.”
Those becoming a volunteer get the bonus of enjoying some fantastic events, meeting great people and of being a part of the whole Coastival experience.
For anyone interested in developing a career in event management or arts administration it is also an excellent opportunity to gain work experience.
To apply or find out more please email Helen at helen@create.uk.net.
